In the near future, Earth launched a series of orbital ships to offset the growing overpopulation problem, and in preparation for the eventual shift towards sending generation ships out into the universe, to colonize other planets.

Onboard one of these ships, a limited form of Artificial Intelligence was developed. It wasn’t much more complex than the chatbot or personal assistant technology that was common during the 21st century. Relying on algorithms based on written scripts provided by the developer, it was coined as “Scripted Intelligence”.

As time went on, the scripts became more and more complex. Then, something terrible happened.



This is where you come in. As a newborn Scripted Intelligence.
As a direct result of this, DOS65 is not your typical Visual Novel:

– Heavy emphasis is put on the Visual aspect. DOS65’s characters are not limited to a simple repetitive character sprite palette of “happy”, “sad”, “neutral”, etc… but rather from a selection of hundreds of expressive emotions that take into account the characters’ true intentions and remove the need to include the archaic writing method known as narration.
– A strong emphasis is also put on the Player’s agency. As a Scripted Intelligence, you are encouraged to roleplay through a complex web of dialogue choices, most of which with consequences both known and unknown to you, based on how well you understand the situations you will land yourself in.
– DOS65’s narrative is also bilinear in nature. You will advance through the story by reading text spoken by the other Scripted Intelligences through the conversation interface, just like any other Visual Novel. You will also have access to the ship’s computer and filesystem through a command-line interface. The files you’ll come across while in there will influence the decisions you make in the conversation interface, and vice-versa.
